Delivering a New Vision

Official signing of an agreement on workers' rights between Building and Wood Workers' International (BWI), Qatari Diar VINCI Construction (QDVC) and VINCI: a world premiere on these issues in Qatar.

 

Resulting from discussions that began in December 2014, the Building and Wood Workers' International (BWI), a global union federation signed today an agreement with QDVC (a Qatari shareholding company with two shareholders: Qatari Diar Real Estate Investments Company and VINCI Construction Grands Projects) and VINCI, a French-based global player in concessions and construction.

 

Following the first opening which occurred in April 2017, allowing functional use of approximately 18km of the highway from North of Salwa Road to Dukhan Highway, Ashghal has inaugurated the first phase of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications, H.E. Mr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality and Environment, H.E. Mr. Hassan Abdullah Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the supreme committee for delivery and legacy, H.E. Dr. Eng. Saad Bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi, President of the Public Works Authority. As well as QDVC & Bin Omran JV representatives with Nasser Al Ansari, QDVC chairman, Philippe Tavernier, QDVC CEO, Adel Haydar QDVC Deputy CEO and Hamad Al Marri CSSO in addition to Dori Labaki, the CEO of Bin Omran.

The additional new section of the NOH 2 include the opening of 18 km with 3 lines in each direction which allows the connection between Dukhan Highway to Al Shamal Road, providing alternative routes away from Doha and reducing traffic congestion in the city.

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) joined representatives From QDVC & Bin Omran JV to open a partial section of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route, Contract 2 (NOH2) project in April at the new main bridge over Dukhan Highway interchange.

The QDVC-Bin Omran Joint Venture has completed the construction of the first significant milestone for the project, allowing functional use of approximately 18km of the highway from North of Salwa Road to Dukhan Highway.

This functional use provides three lanes of traffic in both directions (North & South) on the newly constructed main carriageway from the limit of works with the New Orbital Highway Contract 3 (near Salwa Road) to Junction 4 Main Bridge (Dukhan highway).

This partial handing over is the first in the series to be done until the project completion in the year 2018.

The New Orbital Highway Contract 2 has made significant progress in transforming a barren desert into an efficient road system which will ease traffic flow between Doha Port and Ras Laffan in conjunction with the three other NOH Contracts.

QDVC Sports day 2016 for staff was organized at LRT sports facilities.The event, encompassed a wide range of activities including football and basketball tournaments, in addition to petanque. Awards and medals were offered to winners of the competitions at the end of the day as sign of appreciation. In addition to vouchers worth 500 QAR sponsored by DNATA were distributed to the winners.
